The Stage
I need to make my own decisions,
Choose the path I walk.
Do what I must,
Ignore the critic's talk.
Someone had decided,
They know what's best for me.
Do my best to listen,
But sometimes I disagree.
Trapped in the charade,
Just a playwright's pawn.
Blood on the page,
All the world's a stage.
I'm here to play my role;
And I'm sticking to the script.
In the first half I'm the champ;
But by the end my title's stripped.
Might not win an oscar;
Sell the screenrights for my play.
But when the show is over,
It won't matter anyway.
