You know I was impressed; thought for sure you were the one;
This past summer was the best: every day was fun.

I still see you on that swing, gently swaying in the breeze.
We could smile, we could sing; such sweet memories.

   It's all over but the crying; can't stop sighing, I'm not lying.
   Summer ended without warning; only lonliness this morning.

Why do we long for perfection? What's so wrong with compromise?
It's so hard to face rejection; to see the sorrow in your eyes.

Maybe someday you'll remember the magic that we shared.
Let's go back before September, and the feeling we left there.
